Depending on where you live in Europe Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor Overclocked for the Nintendo 3DS will finally be released by European publisher Ghostlight on either March the 29th or April the 4th – almost two years after the North American version of the game.

The game itself has been well received back when it went on sale in the U.S. some time ago, but what about the publishing of the European Version?

Publishing review:

  • Retail release
  • Physical pre-order bonus (Poster)
  • Good PR

  • No dual-audio
  • Region-locked
  • 19 months waiting time for an already localized game
  • Pre-order bonus not available in all European countries
  • A lot of confusion regarding the release date and different release dates for Europe
  • [UPDATE 01.04.:] Game-breaking bugs

Overall grade [UPDATE 01.04.]: AWFUL*

*[UPDATE 01.04.:] Downgraded from BAD to AWFUL for the bugs present only in the European Version.

Normally the European release would have received a better grading for the fact that we will get a retail version alone, but to release an already localized game nineteen months after the U.S. version hit the stores has to impact the publishing review.

(This review only takes publishing and localization into consideration and is no review of the game itself)
